Frequency Shifting Mobile Signal Repeater
Introduction
The Frequency Shifting Repeater is defined as a full duplex RF amplifier intended to be used in cellular mobile telephone systems to extend the coverage area of a base station while not significantly degrading the performance of mobile systems, or adversely interfering with adjacent mobile systems. It is a high-tech, high efficiency service system that able to improve communication quality at low cost.
It consists of Donor Unit and Remote Units. Donor Unit shall receive signals from a CDMA850Mhz(example) Donor base station and shift the signals to other frequecny band such as 1400-1500Mhz , then amplify and retransmit, and signals from Remote Units in the reverse directions will be amplified and revert to the CDMA850Mhz band. Remote Unit is the same.

Site Survey
Before you install, the installer should contact the person responsible for the project, understand whether there are installed conditions in the installation site.
Specifically include: Installation site, surroundings (Temperature and Humidity), power supply, and so on. If qualified, should go live on-site survey with related personnel. First determine the Local location of local and remote unit. Donor Unit placed in the base station room, the remote unit placed in the coverage area the location of favorable coverage.
Recommended Environmental Requirements:
1. Installation area must be free of corrosive gases and smoke, electromagnetic interference field strength ≤ 140dBμV / m (0.01MHz ~ 110000MHz).
2. Should provide a set of independent, stable 150VAC ~ 290VAC (nominal 220V/50Hz) AC power. Not work with other high-power telecommunications equipment, electrical appliances sharing.
3. The building installation should have lightning protection devices, should have sufficient strength and stability.
4. Installation position must have a communication system to meet the requirements of the grounding device, if not you will need their own production of a grounding device and less than 5 ohms ground resistance
Installation Tools
Installation tool to use: Electric impact drill, iron hammer, pulleys, ropes, belts, helmets, ladders, screwdriver, hacksaw, knife, pliers, wrenches, compass, measuring tape, tweezers, electric iron, portable PC, 30dB directional coupler, spectrum analyzers, VSWR tester.
Repeater installation
It can be holding pole or wall mounting way. It should be installed in ventilated place, vertically on a wall or mast to ensure good heat dissipation, if hang on the wall, the upper part of the equipment to be considered more than 50cm from the ceiling, the lower part of the equipment needs more than 120cm from the floor.
Specific installation methods can be designed according to the site installation conditions.
Antenna and Feeder Installation and Precautions
1. Antenna system installation requires experienced professionals to complete.
2. You can not install the antenna near power lines, which could endanger lives.
3. Donor Unit's relay antennas direction and Donor Unit's relay antennas direction to ensure that the relative a line.
4. The covering antenna design in accordance with the flexibility to choose, omnidirectional antenna can be installed in the center of coverage area to cover the whole, Directional antenna will have to cover the area in front.
5. The relay receiver feeder generally uses 1 / 2 inch corrugated cable. When the reception level is strong, you can also use 1 / 2 inch braided cable, If the reception level is weak, and the length of feeder is greater than 50m, the best choice of 7 / 8 inch corrugated cable. If the coverage area is divided into two, you can use two power splitter and two antennas to cover. If you need to cover all, you can use the omni-directional antenna. Retransmission feeder not too long, to avoid unnecessary attenuation, Less than 5 meters available 1 / 2 inch braided cable, Greater than 5 meters use 1 / 2 inch corrugated cable, more than 30 meters use 7 / 8 inch corrugated cable.
6. All exposed joints must use self-adhesive waterproof tape and electrical insulation tape securely sealed. Recommend a power testing equipment to test all normal, further Antenna connector sealing; before the first installation of connectors within the connector cleaning and check the length of the cable cores, and the position is normal, then assembled joint; joints must be checked before sealing it tight.
Lightning Protection Measures
Repeaters are usually installed in the top of tall buildings or mountains, and then through the feeder and the antenna on the tower connected, there must be a reliable lightning protection measures. Lightning protection of repeaters include the following:
1. Equipment enclosure, antenna base and cable need to be reliable grounding.
2. Power line lightning. If the device is installed in the field, you must install lightning protection box.
3. Antenna lightning protection through the lightning rod installed on the tower to achieve. But must ensure that the antenna top no higher than the lightning rod.
Connect the Ground and Power Supply
1. Equipment Grounding
The equipment must be well grounded, there is a copper on the repeater wall chassis ground, use 4mm2 or thicker copper wire close to the ground. Grounding wire should be as short as possible.
When installed, the equipment grounding wire should be connect to the integrated grounding bar. Grounding resistance of requirements bar may be≤ 5Ω, ground connector require preservative treatment.
2. Connect the Power
Connect 220V/50Hz AC power to the equipment power port terminal blocks, power line use 2mm2 cables, length less than 30m. For standby power requirement, the power must go through UPS, and then connect the UPS to the repeater power port terminal blocks.
